A punch refers to a metal part on a stamping die in mechanical tools, also known as a punch bar, punch needle or punch. It is installed on a stamping die to perform continuous blanking, punching and breaking operations, causing the material to be processed to separate or undergo plastic deformation, thereby obtaining the required finished or semi-finished product.

The punch is also called the convex die, upper die, male die, punch needle, etc. Punches are further classified into A-type punches, T-type punches and special-shaped punches. The punch is a metal part installed on the stamping die, which is used for direct contact with the material to cause deformation and cutting of the material.

Die punches are generally made of high-speed steel and tungsten steel, etc. There are high-speed steel punches and tungsten steel punches, among which high-speed steel is the most commonly used material. Commonly used ones include CR12, CR12MOV, asp23, skd11, skh51, skd61, etc. Tungsten steel material is generally used in stamping and shearing dies with higher requirements.

Hard alloy punches, as components during the operation of stamping dies, are also known as hard alloy punch bars and belong to the category of replaceable die consumables. According to the differences in material, shape and application, punch pins can be classified into SKD, SKH, ASP punch pins, guide punch pins, mother-and-child punch pins, tooth extraction punch pins, detection tips, hexagonal punch pins, elliptical punch pins, forming punch pins, fan-shaped punch heads, special-shaped punch pins, high-speed steel punch pins and high-quality hard alloy punch rods. In Guangdong, they are also commonly called tungsten steel punch pins
